Using notes
When you can't tell which digit goes where, jot down the candidates instead. Press N to toggle Notes mode — your number presses become small candidate marks instead of filling the cell.

Read the notes
The cell highlighted in amber has notes for 2, 5, and 7. That means: based on the row, column, and box constraints right now, only one of those three digits can go there. Once you eliminate two of them, the cell solves itself.
Workflow
- 1. Press N to enter Notes mode.
- 2. Click a cell, then press its candidate digits (e.g. 2, 5, 7).
- 3. Press N again to leave Notes mode and start filling real digits.
- 4. When you commit a real digit to a cell, its notes are cleared automatically.
